I have to respond to this to warn patients that not all gynecologists are as alert as the doctor writing here. My Mom, a postmenopausal woman, had excessive bleeding for three years, had been seeing a gynecologist about it, and was not diagnosed until now with cancer, the doctor had not been able to diagnose the cancer until now, so it is really important for patients to seek second opinions if their doctor does not find a cause for their bleeding

Kristen,
I can understand where you are coming from. The da Vinci has been such a major change in being able to meticulously remove fibroids from the uterus. Sometimes even better then open.

I wish this would have been available when I was having all my problems - I think it would have been a better option then the hysterectomy.

My doctor just stopped my fosamax cold turkey after 7 years. My spine is collapsing and I am in chronic pain with bilateral nerve pain in my legs.
I am afraid I will get worse faster now. So many opinions , what should I do? My bone density showed my lower back and right hip were a problem area. My hip was bothering me and after the fosamax I soon felt better. ????

My doctor just stopped my Fosamax cold turkey.
I have been on it for 7 years. So many opinions
that I don't know what to do now. My jaw is fine ,
my bones are a mess, especially my spine which seems to be collapsing. I am 60 years old and have been told I have the spine of a 90 year old. My pain is chronic and I have nerve damage. I am afraid if Fosamax was helping things are going to get worse. To Fosamax or not is the question.

Erin, I am sorry that it took me time to respond to you. I had to research this product. The new Vagisil product is an external wash that claims to wash away bacteria and help with odor. This product is to be used on the external skin, and is safe to use even in pregnancy. This product has a slight scent to it. Some women may become very irritated with scented products. If that were to occur the product should be discontinued.

Also, I always caution women about self treating vaginal infections. If you are self treating and not responding you should see your doctor. Pregnant woman should not self treat vaginal infections without at least speaking with their doctor.

Amanda, If you are experiencing vaginal odor, I would first suggest that you see your gynecologist to exclude an infection. Some women will notice changes in there discharge and a slight change in odor throughout the course of the month. There is a product called Rephresh that stabilizes the pH in the vagina and can help with odor or itching and can be used regularly. It is not a douche. I hope this information is useful.

Hi Dr. K,

A few months ago, I went to a gynecologist and was told that I have precancerous cells on my cervix. The next procedure I have to have is the leep cone for removal but that's not for a few weeks or so. This is my second time going through this process.
I do have some odor and some discharge. I've been eating yogurt and drinking cranberry juice which I've been told is good for maintaining health down there. Is there something else I can do to feel more clean? Or do I just have to wait until I have this procedure and heal? Any advice would be helplful, thank you!

Hi Dr. K,
What about the new product from vagisil. It's a vaginal wash that claims to wash away bacteria and prevent odor. Is that okay to use? Is it okay to use when you're pregnant? Thanks!!
